The Ministers of Education for all Australian States have approved the English Curriculum for Foundation to Year 10. The year of implementation of this English Curriculum will be decided by the individual States. A summary of this implementation is given below for 2013.

ACT English will be taught in classrooms across all levels from Foundation to Year 10 using the Australian Curriculum
NSW Schools will not be required to teach new syllabuses before 2014. During 2013, schools
will need to have prepared a plan for implementation.
NT English will be taught in classrooms across all levels to Year 10 in all schools using the Australian Curriculum
QLD English will be taught in classrooms across all levels from Foundation to Year 10 using the
Australian Curriculum
SA(catholic) English will be taught in classrooms across all levels to Year 9 using the Australian
Curriculum by the end of 2013.
SA(government) Teachers will plan, teach, assess and report using the Australian Curriculum
(content and achievement standards) in English in primary schools.English will be taught in classrooms in Year 8. This includes planning, teaching, assessing and reporting using the Australian Curriculum. English will be taught in classrooms for Year 9 in either 2013 or 2014.
SA(independent) English will be taught in some classrooms using the Australian Curriculum.
TAS English will be taught in classrooms across all levels to Year 10 using the Australian Curriculum.
VIC Government and Catholic schools will use AusVELS for curriculum planning and assessment purposes, which includes the English learning area of the Australian Curriculum for Years F‐10. AusVELS will be available to all independent schools.
WA The formal three‐year implementation period commenced in July 2012. Schools, Foundation to Year 10, have three years in which to fully implement the Australian Curriculum in English,
